Spectra of Comet Bradfield (1979-l) obtained in the period 4-12 February 1980 with the 122 and 182 cm Asiago telescopes show, besides the usual CN, C2, C3, NH2 and CH bands in the visual part of the spectrum, the near infrared (3-0) Philipps band system of C2 and the (8-0), (7-0), (6-0) bands of H2O(+). Photographic plates taken with the 90 cm Schmidt telescope show a dust poor comet with a very narrow and faint plasma tail containing several filaments.
