The Vilnius seven-color photometric system and its ability to make stellar classifications are described. The system gives optimum two-dimensional quantification of stars in spectral types (or temperatures) and absolute magnitudes (or surface gravities) of all spectral classes from O to M in the presence of interstellar reddening. The possibilities of the system are extremely important and allow the classification of very faint stars down to 20 mag using CCD detectors.
