The present comparison of the distribution of quasars in well-known regions at z of 2.2 with the distributions of two nearby galaxies in comparable comoving volumes indicates no correlations for the quasars on distance scales greater than about 0.3 times as those at which correlations are observed for nearby galaxies. It is suggested on this basis that the structure did not exist at this z value, or that it was at that time in cosmic evolution either much smaller or more diffuse. This substantially constrains models of large-scale cosmic structure.
