Looking for methods more objective than visual timings of the eclipses of Jupiter's Galilean satellites, the MXII CCD video camera was tested for this purpose. Special computer software was developed to track the objects of interest automatically. The first results show that this method is very promising; and, due to its simplicity, is well within the capabilities of many amateur astronomers. Comparison with other objective methods, such as photoelectric photometry, will be necessary to prove the value of this approach.
