Scientific paper
Derivations of the particle spectral index at the shock front in a
turbulent medium are presented for second-order Fermi acceleration in
the shock vicinity. It is concluded that the second-order acceleration
can play a considerable role in all small and medium Alfven Mach number
shock waves.
