Scientific paper

The TeV gamma ray burst observed from SN 1987A was explained by Schlickeiser and Stanev (1991) as due to Compton scattering of X-rays from high energy electrons in the Klein-Nishina limit. It is shown here that Compton scattering of infrared and optical photons from the nebula reduces the required energy in the electrons by several orders of magnitude.
