HST NICMOS observations of a sample of 24 luminous (LIGs: LIR [8-1000 um] = 1011.0-11.99 Lsun) and ultraluminous (ULIGs: LIR > 1012.0 Lsun) infrared galaxies are presented. These observations provide high resolution (0.1-02") HST imaging of the imbedded 1.1 - 2.2 um nuclear regions of these mergers, thus yielding detailed information about the morphology, color, and distribution of imbedded nuclear structures. These data are discussed in the context of recent mid-infrared imaging and radio/millimeter-wave interferometry of a subset of these galaxies, which indicate that a significant fraction of ULIGs may generate most of their energy within a region 50-200 pc across.
