The K-5-13 Kirin chondrite sample is found to have an Ar-40/Ar-39 age spectrum similar in character to those of Kirin samples K-1 and K-2. In addition, the age spectrum of the sample indicates outgassing during a presumed collisional event approximately 0.5 Ga ago, which is in agreement with the K-2 estimate. A calculation of the vertical separation between K-2 and K-5-13, in light of their 60 and 50% Ar-40 losses, respectively, during the 0.5 Ga collisional event, shows them to have been about 10 cm apart in the parent body.
