Expressions determining energy losses for longitudinal and transverse degrees of freedom of thermal electrons for both elastic and inelastic interactions with the basic neutral components of the upper atmosphere are obtained; a weak degree of anisotropy is assumed. The influence of superthermal electrons is taken into account. It is shown that the anisotropy of electron temperature in the midlatitude plasmasphere can reach 20-25%.
