Galactic Center: Gravitation, Galaxy: Earth Orbit

The gravito-magnetic force, obtained in the linearized Einstein theory, is due to the gravito-magnetic field produced by a moving mass source, and interacts with a moving test particle, in complete analogy to the well-known electromagnetic force, which is due to an electric current and is exerted on a test current. The gravito-magnetic field strength is composed of two terms, one is proportional to 1/r2, and the other is proportional to 1/r, where r is the distance between the (moving) mass source and the (moving) test particle. The first term is analogous to the Laplace (Biot-Savart) term in the electromagnetic field, and the second term is analogous to the far-field electromagnetic radiation term. The Laplace term at Earth due to many astronomical sources is estimated to be about 10-15/s, and that due to the Galactic center produces a gravito-magnetic force exerted on Earth of 10-20m/s2 at its March and September positions as it orbits around the Sun. The equilibrium orientation of the ecliptic plane with respect to the Galactic plane is shifted from that due to the anisotropy of space force by about 10°. The radiation term is due to the acceleration of the entities of the Galactic center, about which little is known. Because the mass of the Galactic center is so huge, the acceleration may also be very large, in which case the radiation term of the gravito-magnetic force may be observable in an Earth-bound laboratory.
