A recent computer analysis of data collected in 1862 regarding the Swift-Tuttle comet is presented. In examining the recurrence period of the dust streams, a nucleus rotation of 66.5 hours is calculated. Eight active zones are determined, which suggests a ring-shaped formation and reveals a surface heterogeneity. These facts show that the active zones cover only 1/100 of the surface and provide 10 percent of the total light emitted. The zones may be 100-200 times more efficient than the rest of the surface. The computer analysis may be useful regarding active zones of other comets, in particular, Halley's Comet. Finally, it is shown that through computer analyses, old data can lead to new useful information.
