The low-energy hadron component of extensive air showers was investigated on the basis of a Monte Carlo simulation. Particular consideration is given to: (1) instrument errors and errors due to the processing algorithm; (2) the particle number spectrum of the showers; and (3) the spatial distribution of hadrons. Data are presented on the spatial distribution of hadrons for two groups of showers, with N = 30,000 to 100,000 and N = 100,000 to 300,000.
