In the paper Infrared Imaging of Spiral Galaxies: Colors and Luminosity Profiles" by Donald M. Terndrup, Roger L. Davies, Jay A. Frogel, D. L. DePoy, & Lisa A. Wells (ApJ, 432,518 [1994]), there is a calibration error in the surface brightness profiles μ(K) and in the calculated r - K colors. The source of the error was an incorrect transformation from mag pixel^-1^ to mag arcsec^-1^. That transformation was applied twice, which made the reported μ(K) profiles too faint, and the r - K colors too blue, by 0.65 mag. The J - K colors are unaffected by this error. The error also applies to the determination of the surface brightness of the sky in Section 2.3. This error does not change the main conclusions of the paper. There is an additional error in that the transformation between r - K and (Cousins) R_c_ - K was assumed to be small; in fact, the transformation is R_C_ = r - 0.34, as calculated by R. A. Bell and D. A. VandenBerg (ApJS, 63,335 [1987]). This error affects only the comparison of observed colors to theoretical models (Section 4.1); the match between theory and observation is improved by the use of the correct transformation. Corrected figures and tables are available on request. The authors thank F. Simien and H.-W. Rix for bringing these errors to their attention.
