The formaldehyde emission in IC 4553 (Arp 220) occurs within the radio continuum confines of the twin nuclei, with the stronger emission located at the western nucleus. Continuum characteristics and the velocity field of the formaldehyde emission and high-brightness VLBI OH masers suggest an inclined orbital plane for the nuclei. The formaldehyde emission and the high-brightness OH maser components are respectively slightly behind and ahead of the moving nuclei.
