Within the work on the Fifth Fundamental Catalogue (FK5), the equator and equinox have been determined such that the celestial coordinate system represented by the data of the FK5 corresponds to the dynamical reference frame as closely as possible. After the completion of this determination, it was discovered that the results expressed in corrections to the equator and equinox of the FK4 are in excellent agreement with Pierce's systematic corrections to catalogs determined from observations of 15 minor planets at a time when it was impossible to recognize their significance.
