It is established that the QSO space density must be assumed to be constant to z = 5-6 at least, by comparing color-selected QSO counts to the predictions of Mathez' (1976) Luminosity evolution Model (LEM). Osmer's (1982) use of a CTIO survey for emission-line QSOs in the range 3.7-4.7 to obtain evidence for a decrease of the QSO space density is reviewed, and it is shown that LEM predictions are in good agreement with color-selected QSO counts as well as with the results of Osmer's survey, but do not agree with Hoag and Smith's (1977) survey.
