Excitation of forbidden Fe VII lines in conditions prevalent in gaseous nebulae is discussed. Collision strengths and transition probabilities which dominate the population within the ground configuration 3d(2) are calculated, as are the emissivity ratios which to a first approximation allow determination of the electron temperature and the electron density of the emitting gas from the observed line intensity ratios.
