We will obtain imaging of the two galaxies responsible for the damped Lyman-alpha and MgII absorption systems, at redshift z=3.03 and z = 1.47 respectively, toward QSO0347-3819. Because we are interested in the morphology of these two high-redshift galaxies, we will use only the filter F606W. We will therefore obtain morphological information of the rest-frame far UV continuum of the higher redshift galaxies, and rst-frame near ultraviolet of the other. With the additional photometric data we already have from ground-based observations as well as from HST, we will be able to characterize the UV spectral energy distribution of these high-redshift, young galaxies and to study their morphologies. This study will provide important information about galaxy formation and evolution and the relationship between absorption systems and normal, bright galaxies.
