We will obtain FOC multicolour imaging of the galaxy responsible for the MgII absorption system toward QSO0347-3819 to study its rest-frame UV spectral energy distribution. The set of filters, F190M, F253M, and F307M has been selected to sample the continuum bluward of the Lyman continuum limit; between the Lyman continuum limit and the Lyman alpha; and redward the Lyman alpha, respectively. We can therefore complement these photometric data with the information on redshift, HI column density and metallicity already available from the study of the absorption systems in the QSO spectrum. In this way we will be able to absolute luminosity, morphological type, evolutionary stage, starburst activity, and obtain information on the physical conditions of its ISM. This study will provide important information about galaxy formation and evolution and the relationship between absorption systems and normal, bright galaxies.
