Apparent velocities greater than the speed of light (superluminal motion) have been inferred in a number of distant quasars and active galactic nuclei, but the extreme distance of these extragalactic sources introduced many uncertanties into the interpretation of the superluminal phenomenon. I will present the observations of the two first superluminal sources detected within our own Galaxy and review the properties of these sources in the context of the other sources of relativistic jets in the Galaxy.
