Initial results are presented of spectroscopy of 34 faint field galaxies in the redshift range 0.1 < z < 1.0 obtained with the 10-m Keck Telescope. These data are combined with photometry and structural information provided by Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 images. Of particular interest are the 25 galaxies fainter than I=22, for which the median redshift is z =~ 0.81. This result is inconsistent with the low median redshift of z ~ 0.6 predicted by the ``maximum merger models'' of Carlberg (1995), which otherwise fit existing data in the literature. The data do match an extrapolation of the landmark Canada France Redshift Survey (CFRS), as well as the predictions of certain mild luminosity-evolution models. Nearly half of the redshifts lie in two structures at z =~ 0.81 and z =~ 1.0, revealing the presence of high density galaxy concentrations over group-sized scales of ~ 1 h(-1) Mpc.
