Current methods for determining the higher order correlations of the galaxy distributions are almost exclusively based upon moments of cell counts, related to averages of the correlation functions over the cells. We present accurate evaluations of these averages, assuming that the higher order galaxy correlation functions satisfy the hierarchical tree assumption. We also present convenient analytic approximations for practical applications.
