Consideration is given to the determination of the helium abundance in the solar envelope from an analysis of helioseismological data. The helium abundance determines the nature of the adiabatic gradient behavior in the T = 100,000 K region. A special function of observation frequencies beta(omega) is used to study the influence of helium abundance and adiabatic gradient behavior on acoustic oscillations. The particular character of the convective zone structure determines the sinusoidal disturbance of beta(omega). The phase of the sinusoidal component of beta(omega) can be used to determine the helium abundance in the solar convective zone. Calculations are performed for three models with the same convective zone depth and different helium abundances. The results of these theoretical calculations are compared with observational data to determine the helium abundance as a parameter of the solar envelope.
