The average values of metallicity in the disk, the halo, and Galactic bulge are -0.2, -1.6, and -0.2 dex respectively. The age-metallicity relation (AMR) provides useful clues about the Galactic formation and evolution. In order to explain observed AMR and its scatter, mechanisms of diffusion of stellar orbits and non-instantaneous mixing must be considered in Galactic chemical evolution models.
