CoRoT (Convection, Rotation and planetary Transit) is a space experiment with a double objective: study the stellar interiors (asteroseismology), and search for extrasolar planets.
The satellite was launched on 27 December 2006, and delivers light curves with an unprecedented resolution in both time (32s resolution in uninterrupted observations of 30 or 150 days) and photometry (better than a millimag). Two regions of 1.4x2.8° are covered (CoRoT's "eyes"): one toward the galactic center (around 06:50+00), the other toward the anticenter (around 18:50+00)
CoRoT has two main scientific programs: asterosismology (observations of stellar oscillations) targeted to a small set of stars observed without interruption during one run, summarized in file "asterodat"; and exoplanet detection by the occultation or transit method, summarized in file "exo.dat".
The data correspond to the public release 3.2 of CoRoT N2 data (19-Jun-2009). More details on the CoRoT N2 data may be found in the "DescriptionN2v1.2.pdf" documentation file.
