Linear polarization of the light of some Seyfert galaxies has been measured at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory simultaneously in five bands, ubvri, using the 1.25m telescope. From May 1997 to May 2003, observations of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151 were made on 58 separate nights. In 1997 the nucleus was in its bright state, but on a descending part of the light curve. In 2001-2003 the galaxy nucleus was at the minimum light. Polarization varied from ˜1.5% at maximum light to ˜0.3% at minimum light in the B-band. From the correlation between full flux and polarized flux it follows that the same variable source is responsible for both brightness and polarization variations. Variable and permanent components of polarization were derived from these dependences. From the wavelength dependence of polarization for the variable source one can conclude that this source originates in an optically thick accretion disc.
