I report on my recent research concerning evolved stars using millimeter interferometry and conducted with my students. All of this started with my PhD thesis work with Jack Welch. I begin and end with a poetic analogy of Jack Welch as a star, and describe how his career's evolution created an environment that fostered his students, the next generation of millimeter astronomers.
