Very Long Baseline Interferometry at the Hat Creek Radio Observatory has gone through a number of phases since the first transcontinental experiment with the (former) 85-ft telescope in 1967. The second phase involved the build up of the US VLBI Network and involvement with the NASA Crustal Dynamics Program. Berkeley played important roles in both technology development and Network management. The availability of a wide-bandwidth Mark III recording system from NASA allowed initiation of VLBI at 3mm wavelength to probe distant Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs), and the quiescent and local massive black hole Sgr A* at the smallest possible length scales. Millimeter-wavelength VLBI has itself gone through several phases of development and the quest to resolve intrinsic structure in Sgr A* continues. A new phase of VLBI at HCRO is planned when the full Allen Telescope Array joins the global High Sensitivity Array for VLBI.
