Within the extended Chandra Deep Field South region we aim to (1) use CABB to achieve or improve on the originally proposed sensitivity of the ATLAS survey at 1.4 GHz; (2) measure the evolution in both active nucleus and star formation dominated systems over significant fractions of cosmic time (up to 80% the age of the universe for star formers, and the whole of cosmic history for active nuclei); and (3) test the CABB system and evaluate its performance at the sensitivity necessary for ATLAS prior to initiating a large program to achieve the original sensitivity goals over the full survey area, as well as to test new analysis techniques and confusion mitigation strategies for ASKAP continuum surveys, such as EMU. This proposal was submitted for 2008OCTS but was not scheduled because of the delay in installing CABB.
