We present results from the DEEP spectroscopic survey of galaxies in the Groth-Westphal Survey Strip to detect broad and narrow-line Active Galactic Nuclei. The survey spectra were obtained with the Keck telescope and LRIS spectrograph and reach a limit of roughly IAB ~24 with a mean redshift of z ~0.8. We have found at least six broad-line AGNs (Seyfert 1s and QSOs) as well as several narrow-line Seyfert 2 candidates. The seyfert galaxies detected in our survey have integrated absolute magnitudes extending to MV ~-18.0, probing fainter magnitudes and higher redshifts than existing optical spectroscopic surveys. We discuss the properties of the AGN and their host galaxies as well as comment on comparisons of the observed number density to expected evolutionary trends.
