We will discuss the database technologies and techniques as well as the specific data products that form the Digitized Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (DPOSS) archive. These technologies include both hardware, to optimize the retrieval and analysis of both catalog and image data components, and software, to improve the raw data extraction process and performance of complex spatial queries. For the former, we are utilizing our NPACI (National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) relationship to persist the full POSS-II plate images, and custom-built "cyberbricks" for the low-cost, high-speed Terabytes of spinning disks that are needed to hold the various catalog and image databases. Specific data that are viable archive products include the full POSS-II plate images with astrometric solutions encoded in the Fits header, and a catalog subset of the most commonly used parameters. The availability of these and other potential data products are dependent on the availability of sufficient manpower and financial resources. We hope that the concepts and techniques outlined in this presentation are of significant utility to others who are currently grappling with data archiving issues.
