Observation of a compact radio source associated with one of the clumps in the irregular galaxy NGC 6052 is reported. The VLA was used to identify a source with both an extended region and a brighter, unresolved source. The variability of the object, Mrk 297A, is similar to that of BL Lac, 3C 120, and 3C 454.3, which are all compact nuclear sources. It is suggested that Mrk 297A is a SNR in a region of intense star formation, a hypothesis supported by optical, UV, and 21 cm line data. Recently formed massive stars comprising 10,000-100,000 O and B stars are possible, as is the presence of an SNR remnant from an event that occurred between 1980 and 1982. Further systematic optical observations are recommended for identifying objects which could be associated with radio activity.
