The Prognoz-10 Intercosmos station will study the structure of interplanetary and near-Earth shock waves that occur when the plasma of the solar wind interacts with the Earth's magnetosphere. The automatic station was placed into a high elliptical Earth-satellite orbit. The onboard systems and scientific apparatus of the Prognoz-10-Intercosmos station are functioning normally.
