The DEEP Project (Deep Extragalactic Evolutionary Probe) is a survey of faint field galaxies. DEEP has obtained moderate resolution Keck/LRIS spectra for several hundred galaxies at redshifts out to z ~ 1.3, in the Hubble Deep Field and Groth Survey Strip, fields with deep HST imaging. We discuss the use of optical emission linewidths and HST surface photometry to determine the existence and evolution of the linewidth-magnitude relation.
