We observed the short-period eclipsing system XY UMa (which displays RS CVn phenomena) on two nights in early 1982 at UBV bands. The light curves show both primary and secondary eclipses are asymmetrical and that a distortion wave of small amplitude has a minimum near phase 0.25. On the night of 1/31/82, we recorded a flare-like episode at phase 0.57 whose duration was about 30 minutes. The total energy in the outburst was about 9% of the system's flux at U, 4% at B, and 3% at V.
