The radiation pressure caused by the trapped line photons in clouds
producing the broad line emission around active galactic nuclei is
analyzed and found to be important for the stability of the clouds. It
may provide a natural explanation for the great uniformity in values of
density and ionization parameter found in quasars and Seyfert galaxies.
