The formation of macroscopic currents in the shock layer of active galactic nuclei is analyzed. The results can be used to study the stability of the whole structure and to define a preferred direction in the formation of jets. Modifications caused by a perturbation in the wind to the IR-optical and X-ray regions of the emission spectrum are estimated.
