The cluster Mayall II, which is the brightest (Mv = -10.9) globular cluster in M31, has been observed with a CCD detector on the CFH telescope. These observations show that Mayall II is quite flattened and has ɛ = 0.22. The M31 globular-cluster system therefore resembles that surrounding the Galaxy in which ω Cen is both the most luminous (Mv = -10.3) and (intrinsically) the most flattened cluster.
