Astronomical objects with unusual spectra are discussed. Novae, dwarf and recurrent novae, planetary nebulae and their nuclei, and supernovae are examined with regard to their spectral characteristics, showing how the latter relate to the physical characteristics of the objects. The nature of Eta Carinae is briefly considered, and objects with combination spectra are addressed.
