Reference is made to earlier studies in which attempts have been made to solve the problem of the origin of galaxies from initial inhomogeneities in the context of models of the universe with phase transitions (expanding universe models). The dynamics of these models is adequately described by a rather complex nonlinear equation of state. In the present study, the evolution of large-scale perturbations is described for the above mentioned nonlinear equation, and the result obtained is then generalized to a dependence of the form p(epsilon), where p is pressure and epsilon is fluid density.
