Polarimetric properties of some terrestrial rocks in polished and grinding forms are investigated. It is found that negative polarization is characteristic of samples having a complex relief as well as a granular structure of the order of 1 micron. The effects of the shock metamorphism and weathering processes on the negative polarization are also studied. The origin of these effects is discussed.
