Monochromatic images of planetary nebulae, including three faint objects from the catalog of Abell (1966), obtained using interference filters with 5-10-A or 50-A bandwidths on the 1.2-m and 1.93-m telescopes at the Observatoire de Haute Provence and the 1.52-m telescope at ESO are presented and characterized. The filters are centered at H-alpha, H-beta, and the forbidden lines of N II (6584 A), S II (6717 A), and O III (5007 A); photographic plates, image tubes, and an image photon-counting device are employed. For objects with large N II/H-alpha intensity ratios (such as A79), the large contribution of the forbidden N II line to the photored flux is found to require a 30-percent reduction in previously calculated distance estimates.
