The model of highly nonstationary inhomogeneous accretion onto magnetized neutron stars presently discussed is noted to allow super-Eddington luminosities. The consequences yielded by the model are subject to observational testing. The model is judged to be most completely justifiable if nonlinear (and perhaps self-excited) instabilities can occur at the inner edge of the accretion disk. The present considerations are based on HEAO-1 pulse-to-pulse variation measurements of Her X1.
