The formation of plasmaspheric ducts (PDs) as the result of local variations of plasma pressure at the base of flux tubes is examined. It is shown that, if the pressure variations are caused by wave disturbances of the meridional neutral-wind velocity in the F2-region, the density of charged particles in the PDs should increase as compared with neighboring background regions. The PDs will most probably be formed during morning or evening hours, as well as during elevated geomagnetic activity.
