The spectra of molecules, molecular ions, and radicals present in cosmic objects including comets, the sun, the interstellar medium, earth's atmosphere, nebulae, and planetary atmospheres are discussed. The Phillips, Mulliken, Ballik-Ramsay, and Fox-Herzberg systems in the photospheric spectrum are considered, and the astrophysical significance of the C2 and S molecules in solar studies is examined. Also considered are long-period variables with H2O emission and peculiar late-type stars with H2O emission.
