It is shown that the provisional rotation period of 9 hr 55 min 29.37 sec adopted for Jupiter's System III (1957.0) longitude measure is inadequate for current use because it is in error by a small amount. Several errors in current calculations of System III (1957.0) are noted, and it is proposed that a new System III measure be adopted for which the sidereal rotation rate of Jupiter is 870.536 deg per Ephemeris Day, which gives a period of about 9 hr 55 min 29.711 sec. It is also proposed that the epoch be 0 hr 0 min 35.73 sec Ephemeris Time, January 1, 1965; that the longitude at epoch of the central meridian, as observed from earth, be 217.956 deg; and that the system be called System III (1965).
