A gasdynamic plasma facility, employing a gas-discharge accelerator to
generate a supersonic low-density partially ionized flow, was used to
study the structure of the near wake of a metallic cylinder in the
nonisothermal plasma. The experimental results are found to be in
satisfactory agreement with Liu's (1969) numerical solution.
