Scientific paper

Optical observations of the total solar eclipse in Mexico in 1991 are
reported. The preliminary polarization distribution map obtained shows
high polarization at 4 solar radii in the ecliptic plane. The
possibility of new constraints relating to dust grains surrounding the
sun is discussed.
