The soft X-ray spectra of the North Polar Spur and the Cygnus Loop were measured with gas scintillation proportional counters whose energy resolution is twice that of ordinary proportional counters. For this resolution, the emission line intensities from various elements can be obtained by a decomposition of the observed spectra in the range 0.4-1.0 keV where intense lines are relatively well separated. The result of the decomposition indicates that Fe XVII emission lines from the North Polar Spur is significantly weaker than that from the Cygnus Loop. Assuming that iron resides mainly in interstellar dust grains, this feature is interpreted in terms of the difference in the evaporation rate of the dust grains inside the hot plasma of the respective supernova remnants.
