A model of the W3 molecular cloud is constructed from the analysis of CO-12, CO-13, CS, HCN, and H2CO molecular data. Attention is given to the parameters which characterize the physical conditions in the core of the cloud. The overall dynamics and ages of the components of the W3-W4 complex can be explained by a combination of a galactic shock wave and a shock associated with the ionization front on the outer edge of W4.
